Frequently asked

Do I need an account?
No. Lights Out opens straight to the schedule — there's no sign-up, login or account of any kind. Every feature is available immediately.
Where does the data come from?
Schedules, standings and results come from the public Jolpica F1 API; session-level detail such as tyre stints and practice times comes from OpenF1. Both are public, community data sources. Occasionally a time or result may lag or differ from other sources while those providers update.
How do session reminders work?
Reminders are local notifications you switch on yourself in the Reminders tab. You pick which sessions to be alerted for — practice, qualifying, sprint, race — and how early, from 15 minutes up to 3 hours. Times are shown in your device's local time zone, and you're asked once for notification permission when you enable them.
Why is a time or countdown slightly off?
All times are converted to your device's local time zone, so check your device clock and time-zone setting first. Schedules can also shift late in a weekend; the app refreshes from its data sources when you reopen the affected screen.
Does it work offline?
Data you've already viewed is cached on the device, so those screens reload instantly and work without a connection. Opening a race or session you haven't viewed yet, and getting the latest live standings, needs an internet connection.
What data do you collect about me?
None. Lights Out has no accounts, no ads and no analytics or tracking, and doesn't collect personal data. See the full privacy policy.
Is this an official Formula 1 app?
No. Lights Out is an independent, unofficial fan app. It's not affiliated with, endorsed by or associated with Formula 1, the FIA, or any team or driver, and it uses only publicly available factual data with no official logos or marks.
How much does it cost?
Lights Out is free. There are no in-app purchases, subscriptions or ads.
